The high-stepping varigated unicorn (Unicornis maculosus), is a native of the semi-arid foot hill country and deserts of the American Southwest. It is remarkable both for its brillant spotted and striped coat and for its showy gaits. Note the silver horn and blue eye that indicate that this specimen is a stallion. A more muted-colored but as flashly-gaited subspecies (Unicornis maculosus montanus) inhabits the high mountain meadows. This shy sub-species has been rarely seen but the brighter-colored desert-dwelling species is fairly common.

I want his mane color to be the color of my hair! I am so going to go try to find a hairdresser who will create that on my head. Gorgeous picture!

Very awesome coloration, though the coat looks quite heavy for a desert-dweller. I like the way it is slightly different from a horse, but obviously extremely closely related. Nice pose too.

'The Cool': Obviously she doesn't believe it, and if you are that much of an idiot and can't even type an intelligent comment, don't bother.

Very creative.. my only beef with this picture (awesome as it is).. is that the unicorn's coat seems to be too thick... it's a desert animal, so i would expect to see it more sleek and glossy... though i can understand that that might be harder while trying to texture the coat... overall, it's an awesome picture, and i love the shading on the unicorn itself.... very good. total props. 10
